I love to make things since I was a kid. I had always been amazed by my dad's ability and skills for making and fixing things while I grew up. From 7-transistor portable radio for my mom in the 60's, 5" green round TV (out of an O-scope tube), 9" B/W TV in the 70's to converting NTSC TV brought back from the States to be used in our apartment in Beijing and many other things. I had always wanted to use the few power handtools my dad had including a corded drill and a jigsaw. I made two things out of wood (well, one of them is of laminated particle boards) - a small shoe rack and a shelf for cups, bottles and small things which is still being used by my parents in their apartment after more than 25 years.
We moved into this Arts and Crafts style single family house in the end of May of 1999. It's our first ever house that we call it home. It's built in 1912 and has a lot of wood trims around doors and windows. Even though the house was very liveable when we moved in, but just like many other (first time or not) home owners, we wanted it to be our dream house. Then we started the projects ...
